Back in 2007 I got an email from a US Navy LCDR serving in Iraq. He was looking for supplies and plans to build a poker table to help boost morale in his unit. In his own words, he said to me, “Anything to make us feel at home out here is great”. I sent him all the supplies to build a table, out of pocket and it gave me an idea. If this unit, so far from home, could have a little fun with a poker table, why wouldn’t other units benefit from the same luxury.

As a former Marine Corps SGT myself, I decided I would do what I could to help get some poker tables out to Marines, Soldiers, and Sailors serving our country overseas. Since that time, BYOPT has had several similar requests. We have sent out a handful of poker table kits but just don’t have the financial freedom to fulfill every request. With your help, we hope that won’t we an issue any longer.

Any donation to support our troops overseas is helpful whether its $5-$10 or a few hundred. All of the proceeds raised will go directly to fulfilling requests to bring some entertainment to our fighting men and women. I understand that we’re not helping the kids, or providing aid to wounded vets or anything as noble as that, but with all of the worthy causes to support, we often forget about the men and women who are currently serving over seas. I’m hoping that the Tables for Troops program will aid in providing a little joy for America’s finest while they are so far from their friends and families.
