Tables for Troops Stories

The 2nd Platoon Jokers of the 125th Convoy Security Company would like to extend a huge thank you to Build Your Own Poker Tables for the huge morale booster they have provided for us.

There's nothing better than unwinding and relaxing after a week-long mission than to sit down with a group of your fellow soldiers for a game of cards. At first we started with only a few soldiers playing on a small fold out table with broken legs that someone discarded. We used a combination of candy and rocks for our chips, which made betting confusing at times. Now, thanks to the generosity of the people at Tables for Troops and BYOPT, we have a casino quality table to gather around and have since acquired real chips for betting.

You have definitely changed and strengthened the morale for these soldiers for the better. It is a blessing to have such niceties to gather everyone around at night and unwind. It is people like the ones at BYOPT and Tables for Troops that make what we do and the sacrifices we make worth while. Thank you once again from all the soldiers in 2nd Platoon.

As a Platoon SGT in a combat zone, you have to be creative in finding ways for your soldiers to decompress and find a little down time, to keep them focused on the job at hand. I found a company that has aided me in this endeavor. BYOPT and the people at Tables for Troops supported us in building a racetrack poker table shown here and let me tell you what an impact it has had on my Platoon. We host nightly games in our MWR Bunker that we have constructed.

I first signed in to the Forum on the website that I found one night tooling for ideas that my soldiers might like, and posted my intention on building a table. It wasn’t a few days and I had an email from Tom offering to help me with this project. I discussed with him my ideas for an Artillery Table, with Artillery colors and he was all to eager to make our table happen. Within 7-10 days we received our supplies and went to work. As you can see by the picture it was a huge success. We downloaded the plans off of the webpage and 2 weeks later we have a finished product that we can be proud of, and as you can see well used.

All of us at Bravo Bulldogs would like to extend our extreme thanks to Tom and his Crew for bringing a bit of fun and relaxation to out isolated deployment, and keeping our home close to us, with a little taste of home. They are true supporters of the armed forces and we could not have asked for more, thank you again BYOPT.
